My name is Jessi and I truly believe women have been created for birthing. Pregnancy and birth are natural phases in a woman's life, and in the vast majority of cases no medical intervention or drugs are necessary. Although birth is natural, it does take preparation and training. Part of that preparation is learning as much as you can and choosing a care provider and birth place that supports you as a normal woman going through a normal, yet significant event in your life and doesn't see you as a sick "patient" or emergency waiting to happen.
I started Knowbirth.com as a place to find care providers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area who are supportive of natural birth.
From my own experience, and the experiences of the expectant couples I've gotten to know, your choice of care provider is one of the main factors in how your birth will go. It is critical to find one that is on the same page as you, and pratices according to research, not tradition or convenience.
Over time, Knowbirth.com has become a listting for all types of pregnancy-related service providers, from doulas to photographers.
